Carl Douglas Ihle

Carl Douglas "Doug" Ihle, 66, of Carbondale, Illinois passed away at his residence in Carbondale, Illinois on Sunday July 3, 2022, surrounded by his family. Doug was born December 19, 1955, in Murphysboro, Illinois to Joseph C. Ihle and Bernadine (Boucher) Ihle. He was a member of Victory Dream Center in Carbondale, Illinois. Doug loved listening to classic rock and roll music, getting outdoors, hiking, fishing and car rides. He treasured time with family and friends. His most memorable times were in Colorado and Tennessee, spending time with his nieces, and nephews. Doug was such a loving soul, one that we could all learn a lot from. Doug is survived by his mother Bernadine Ihle, four siblings Ruth Ann (Tim) Ward: children; Bill (Lisa) Ward, Brent Ward, and Lori Young. Mike (Carolyn) Ihle: children; Jennifer (Blake) Canning, Lauren (Bradley) Padgett. Patti (Donnie) Grob: children; Ashley (Mike) Walters, Emily (Brantley) Robinson, Chelsey Grugin. Robert (Lori) Ihle: children; Abigail Ihle, Alexandra (Landon) Williams. Janet (Mike) Terry: children; David (Elizabeth) Terry, Betsy Terry. Other survivors include many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Pettett Funeral Home with funeral services at 12 p.m. Friday July 8, 2022, with Elder Larry King officiating. Interment is at Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph C. Ihle and his brother Joseph Michael Ihle. Doug's family would like to recognize a few special people in his life. He was surrounded by many special friends in his community. Doug sat in his front yard and greeted everyone, and made strong lifelong friendships. Each one was very special to him. The Centerstone staff: Each and every one of you have a special place in our hearts. He looked forward to the group sessions, and every visit before and during his battle with cancer. You were very important to Doug. Hospice staff, you are an amazing group of people! Your care and support have meant so much to us, and you made his final journey such a Blessing.
