Jeffrey Lee Ashworth

Jeffrey Lee Ashworth, 49 of McClure, Illinois, passed away at his home, Tuesday, April 14, 2020. He was born in Cairo, Illinois on May 15, 1970. He was the son of Ronnie and Marilyn Ashworth. Jeff was retired and lived at home with his parents. He wanted to be a help to them; he did the yard work, house cleaning, constantly in a run to do whatever he could to help. He tried to take care of his grandmother next door. He loved all of his family and would start baking when he knew anyone was coming over. He rededicated his life to the Lord during this time, as he was fighting cancer. He loved for Pastor Phil and Ms. Denise Roop, from Bethel Assembly of God to come and visit and pray with him. He was on Hospice and enjoyed the visits with their Chaplain, Ivan, and social worker, Liz. He liked his nurses, Jamie Ellis, Erin, and Donna. He is survived by his parents; his son, Jamison Ashworth, who was his pride and joy; three sisters, Julie (Eric) Powell, Jeanna (Tony) Weatherby, and Heather (Ryan) Rushing; one brother, Matthew (Stevie) Ashworth; grandmother, Norma (Richard) Farris; aunts, Debbie (Mike) Penrod, Becky (Jeff) Betts, Lisa Hayes, Vicki Betts, and Carolyn Ashworth; nieces, Erica, Maggie, and Emma Powell; nephews, Noah, Nathan, and Neil Weatherby, Levi and Lucas McKinnie, and Lydia Rushing; many cousins that were as close as siblings. He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Nellie Hewitt; uncles, Mike Betts and Bill Ashworth, grandmother, Ruth Holder; uncles, Henry, Calvin and Mark Ashworth, and an aunt, Patsy Steele. Visitation for family and friends will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the Bethel Assembly of God Sanctuary,1855 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 A.M at the Sanctuary, with Pastor Phil Roop, Mike Betts, and Rob Betts officiating. Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
