Leroy "Lee" P. Schroeder

Leroy P. Schroeder, age 67, who was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away at 10:12 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Funeral services in Murphysboro will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. P. K. Sunny officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Murphysboro. Funeral services in Mascoutah will be held at 12 noon Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah and burial at Mascoutah City Cemetery. Friends may call at the church in Mascoutah from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Monday at Moll Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ in Mascoutah. Leroy was born on March 24, 1939, in Shiloh, Illinois, to Clarence Schroeder and Clara (Stoff) Schroeder. He was a graduate of Mascoutah High School in 1958 and he had served in the U.S. Army after graduation. Lee was a retired Dietary Manager for the Illinois Department of Corrections at Menard. He was the original founder of Schroeder Catering in Belleville, which is still in business. He was the owner the Capri Lanes and Lounge in Pinckneyville. Mr. Schroeder was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Murphysboro. He had been a member of the Elks Lodge # 481 in Belleville and transferred to the Murphysboro Elk's Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 127 and the National Rifle Association. Lee married Barbara Rieckenberg on August 23, 1997, in Murphysboro and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters Cheryl Lee Fellner and her husband Ricky G. Fellner of DuQuoin and Lynn Rieckenberg and her friend John Berry of Carbondale; six grandchildren Ricky Lee Fellner, Nicki Jo Fellner and Michelle Nichole Fellner of DuQuoin, William Romeo and Joseph Romeo, both of Carbondale, and Taylor Hankins of Murphysboro; one brother Ronald Schroeder and his wife Deanna Schroeder of Belleville; one sister Glenda McAfee of Belleville; six nephews Callan Schroeder and Jeff Schroeder and his wife Lisa Schroeder, all of Mascoutah, Jason Schroeder, Danny Schroeder, Darren Schroeder, all of Belleville, and Ryan Hankins of Kansas City; two nieces Debra Stout and her husband Michael Stout of Springfield, IL, and Alison Hankins of Murphysboro; and a great niece and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gerald F. Schroeder, and one brother in law Roy F. McAfee.
