Marilyn C. Nangle

Marilyn C. Nangle, 84, of Marion, died at 9:35AM, Friday, Sept 1, 2017 at her home. She was born April 15, 1933 in Hays, Kansas to John W. and Wilma E. (Wentz) Egger. Marilyn married Norman Maher on Feb. 20, 1955 and later to Ernest Nangle on Jan. 5, 1996. He survives. Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Ellis High School in Ellis, Kansas. She later graduated from Kansas State University and Southern Illinois University. Her career of Elementary education would take her from Colorado to Michigan before settling in Marion. She taught from 1972 until her retirement in 1994 with the Marion School System. She was a life member of the Illinois Education Association. She was a member of various sororities including PEO, Alpha Delta Kappa and Pi Beta Phi. Marilyn also was a member of the Little Egypt Investment Club and Williamson County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. She became involved with the choir, church council and held the office of recording secretary for 2 years. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Wayne) Henderson of Roscoe, IL; son, Kevin Maher of Marion and daughter, Staci Pavelka of The Woodlands, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Kerri, Erika, Sara, Alex, Katy, Audrey and Ashley; 8 great-grandchildren; special care-giver, Connie Johnson of the Lake of Egypt area. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Scott Allen Maher. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Crain Funeral Home Egyptian Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Marilyn left the following words for her family with which they chose to share. When I am gone, release me let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess. How much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love we each have shown. But now it’s time to travel alone. So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me I’ll be near. All my love around you soft and clear. Then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say “Welcome Home”. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ in Marion, Il. and will be accepted at the funeral home.
