Ramona M. Doerr

Ramona M. Doerr, 85 of Vergennes passed away at 3:55am on Monday, February 16, 2015 in Carbondale with her daughter Frances by her side. Ramona was born near Elkville, IL. on November 24, 1929 a daughter to the late Earl Owen and Lela L. (Stewart) Wisely. She was united in marriage to Harlen Noel Doerr on March 7, 1947; Harlen preceded her in death on October 3, 2007. Ramona was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Elkville; she was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #389 in Murphysboro and was a member of Vergennes Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She had formerly worked at the P.N. Hirsch Dept. Store in Murphysboro, Country Set in DuQuoin, Intuitions in Carbondale, and the Diet Center in Murphysboro and was also a homemaker. Funeral Services will be at 11am on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Elkville, Pastor Darryl Williams will officiate; entombment will follow at Murdale Gardens of Memory near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5 until 8pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro and from 9am until the hour of services on Thursday at the church. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be accepted at the church or funeral home. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Frances and Paul Cochran of Vergennes, two sisters; and one brother-in-law; Janet Lorenzana of St. Louis, MO., and Priscilla and Ronnie Cross of Ava, IL., two granddaughters; Jennifer (Brian) Soldat of St. Louis, MO., and Jami Jo (Buddy) Seibert of Vergennes, five great-grandchildren; Jaden Perryman, Teragen, Carter, and Bentlee Seibert and one additional great-grandchild Titus Noel expected in August. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Harlen Doerr, one daughter; Veronica Favier, one son; Gordon Doerr, one grandson; Kenneth James Favier Ramona’s favorite pastime was quilting. She learned to quilt from her mother-in-law; Ida Doerr. Ramona made quilts for her children, grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and many other family members. Ramona and her husband Harlen loved to take vacations together, they took trips to Branson, MO. for 35 years. She was a 15 year breast cancer survivor. Ramona’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Carbondale Rehab and Nursing center and the staff of Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for exceptional care.
