Ross Lyndall Reiman

Ross Lyndall Reiman, of Murphysboro, passed away at 8:03 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Heiman officiating and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Camp Creek Church in Murphysboro, Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc. or to the Alzheimer's Association. Ross was born on April 5, 1934, in the Levan Township of Jackson County, Illinois, to Julius "Jack" and Rosa (Imhoff) Reiman. After graduation in 1952 from Murphysboro Township High School, he farmed with his parents. He retired after 31 years of service as a Murphysboro U.S. Rural Postal Carrier, seventeen years as a substitute and fourteen years as a regular (Route 4) Carrier. Mr. Reiman was a member and former deacon of the Camp Creek Baptist Church in Murphysboro. In Murphysboro on November 26, 1955, he married the daughter of Tommy and WIima (Morrison) Adams of Sand Ridge Township, Shirley Mae Adams, his surviving wife of 55 years. Also surviving are three sons, seven grandchildren and almost 5 great grandchildren. In Pocahontas, son, Ross "Tommy" (Debra Carlock) Reiman, with granddaughter Amanda (Luke Kapp) Reiman and great granddaughter Alyse Nevaeh Kahrhoff, in Greenville, grandson Nicholas (Veronica Hohl) Reiman with great granddaughter Mary Renae Reiman and expected in August Seth Thomas Reiman; In Murphysboro, son and caregivers, Joseph (Regina Cross) Reiman, grandson Richard Reiman, in Jacob granddaughter Michele (Josh) Mifflin and great grandchildren Taylor Michele Mifflin and Noah Adam Mifflin, in Vergennes grandson Joe "Bunk" (Cayla Chamness) Reiman; In Highland, son, Phillip "Possum" (Barbara Levall) Reiman, grandchildren Kyle Reiman and Alyssa Reiman, who is a student at Murray, KY; Also surviving are nieces and nephews, in Murphysboro, Linda (Abby Crowell) Holmes-Crowell, Richard "T" (Rosie) Thompson and Patty Thompson; in Idaho Glenn (Vicki) Reiman; and in Nevada Leland Reiman. In Murphysboro a sister in law Helen Pinkerton Hale, in China a grand niece Theresa "Terry" (Simon) Li, and grand nephews in Michigan, Jim (Deborah) Pinkerton and in Hawaii, U.S. Navy Commander Gary (Susan) Pinkerton. Many cousins survive including special double cousin and friend in Murphysboro, Murl H. (Shirley Ann Morber) Reiman and their family. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and spouses: Robert and Jessie Reiman and Carrie and Samuel "Chuck" Thompson and his parents in law.
