IN MEMORY OF: Sandra Lee Borges Serving Location: CRAIN PLEASANT GROVE-MURDALE FUNERAL HOME 31 Memorial Drive, Murphysboro, Illinois Sandra Lee Borges, née Neal, of Murphysboro, IL, passed away peacefully at St Joseph Memorial Hospital on February 5, 2024 at 3:27pm. She was 69 years old. Sandy was born June 19, 1954 in Buffalo, NY, to Howard George and Marcia (Wohlschlegel) Neal. She was raised by her widowed mother, alongside her brother, David, in Tonawanda, NY. David Neal, along with his three children and former spouse, survives. Sandy led a very adventurous life. She lived all over the country and even in Mexico for a time. Sandy was a devout Christian and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Carterville, IL. Sandy is survived by four incredible children; Stacy Ostlund, widow of Bradley, of Anchorage, AK, Erin Toombs, of Indiana, Kelly Crumbacher, wife to Michael, of Carbondale, IL, Benjamin Wolf, husband to Sara, of Wasilla, AK. Sandy is also survived by eleven grandchildren and an increasing number of great-grandchildren; Brittany Carey, of Anchorage, AK, Morgan Kramer and her husband, Ladd, and their unborn son, of Anchorage, AK, Lindsey Johnson and her husband, Diamond, and their daughter, of Anchorage, AK, Kelsey Bunting and her partner, Raymond, and their daughter, of Albion, IL, Cody Toombs, and his son and daughter, of Missouri, Heather Goins and her husband, Max, and their unborn daughter, of Herrin, IL, Kimberly Johnson, of Hampton, IL, Lucille Kjellberg, of Murphysboro, IL, Isla Wolf, of Carbondale, IL, Jemma Wolf, of Carbondale, IL, Private First Class Jenna Snyder, and her husband, Dustin, of Ft. Riley, KS. Sandy was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her loving husband David Borges, and her son-in-law. The family has trusted Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home, for helping make arrangements for Sandy in order to fulfill her wishes that her final resting place be with her husband on Ft Richardson Army Base in Anchorage, AK. Memorial Donations can be made to the Walker House in Murphysboro, IL. They opened their hearts and arms to Sandy and she dined with them every Sunday afternoon. The family will forever be grateful to all the people that loved and took care of Sandy. She always found new friends and loved ones wherever she was.
