IN MEMORY OF: Beverly Jo Amschler Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – MURPHYSBORO 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, Illinois Beverly Jo Amschler, 91, departed this life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 to the everlasting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Beverly Jo (or Jo to those who knew her) was born August 31, 1932 to Ted and Hazel Johnson Hart in Murphysboro, IL. Beverly Jo graduated from MTHS in 1950. In 1951 she was married to Raymond John Amschler at the Christ Lutheran parsonage in Nuenert, IL. She was a naval wife for many years before settling back in Murphysboro. Beverly began her working career as a secretary at the Brown Shoe Company. Many years later she worked at the Bemis-Lustour Corp and assisted in the accounting and purchasing departments. Beverly finished her career at S.I.U.C. first in the Department of Continuing Education and finally the office of Student Development before retiring. Of all the titles she held, her most prized was that of wife, mom, grandma, Aunt Jo and her last title, “Maw-Maw” by great granddaughter, Amelia Jo. Beverly was a good cook and baker. Her daughter said, “Moms ministry of love shines through cooking and baking skills”. Nobody ever left the table hungry and take home care packages (dessert included) were always assembled before you left. Beverly is survived by her sons, Steven Amschler of Cape Girardeau, MO, Daniel Amschler of Murphysboro, IL and Michael Amschler of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Christian (Marcy) Hale, Ryan (Tonya) Hale, Abbey Jo (Michael) Kokic, John (Sarah) Amschler, Dr. Jodie (John) Meara, Daniel Ray (Vicki) Amschler; 15 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Velma (Amschler) Dean as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; daughter, Debbie Jo Hale; granddaughter, Robin (Amschler) Carroll; her parents; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Edward Clayton; mother and father-in-law, Hilda and John Amschler; brother and sister-in-law, Fletcher and Bernice Chadwick; brother-in-law, Bob Dean; brother and sister-in-law, Elroy and Gladys Borrenpohl; brother-in-law, Lawrence Amschler. Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Crain Funeral Home- Murphysboro, 1421 Walnut St., Murphysboro, IL 62966. Funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Jay Holden officiating. Burial will follow at Tower Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Our Savior Lutheran Church, Carbondale or the Murphysboro Food Pantry Arrangements have been entrusted to Crain Funeral Home.
