James W. Tindall

James W. Tindall, 83 of Murphysboro died at 11:35 am Monday, January 19, 2009 in Murphysboro. Jim was born in St. Louis, MO., August 18, 1925 a son to the late Harry and Edna (White) Tindall. He married Ruth L. Doerr August 3, 1952 in Vergennes, IL. Ruth Survives of Murphysboro. Jim was member of the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro and was a Ruling Elder and a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, he was a retired Insurance and Real Estate Broker and had owned and operated the Tindall Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Murphysboro. Jim was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during WWII, he was member of the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 in Murphysboro and served Post 127 as Commander in 1956, he was also a member of the 40 & 8 at the American Legion, and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127, Jim was also a drummer in the Sons of the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps. that was lead by Sherman Carr in the late 1930's he was a 50 year member of the Murphysboro Elks Lodge# 572 in Murphysboro, a member of the Murphysboro V.F.W. Post #7190, he had served as a Murphysboro Township assessor in the 1990's, he was a Republican precinct committeeman for Murphysboro precinct #6 for 50 years and had served on the Jackson County Housing board. Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday, January 23, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Murphysboro, Rev. Kerry Bean and Rev. Earl Renshaw will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park with military rites by the American Legion Post 127, V.F.W. Post 7190 both of Murphysboro, V.F.W. Post 2605 of Carbondale, and the Jackson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 69. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro and from 9 to 11 am Friday at the Church. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at the church or the funeral home. Survivors in addition to his wife Ruth include, two daughters and one son-in-law; Debra D. Tindall and Julie and John Erbes all of Murphysboro, one sister and brother-in-law; Mary Jane and Jim Rees of Murphysboro, two grandsons; Andrew and Aaron Erbes of Murphysboro, and many Nieces and Nephews also survive
