IN MEMORY OF: Jerry Randall Johnson Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – EGYPTIAN MEMORIAL GARDENS 3208 South Park Avenue, Energy, Illinois Jerry Randall Johnson, age 55, of Sesser, IL, was called home to be with our lord and Savior on May 16, 2026. He made his transition peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry attended Mt. Vernon, IL, High School and graduated from Southern Illinois University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Jerry was employed as a mental health crisis counselor for Centerstone of Illinois for 15 years. During those 15 years, Jerry made a positive impact on the lives of the people he assessed. Jerry was patient, kind, understanding, and a great listener. Those wonderful qualities led him to help others. He had an easy-going personality and quick wit, which were loved by all, and many of his work colleagues at local emergency rooms, schools, and jails became his friends. Jerry loved the outdoors, fishing, and going to the gun range. He loved music from his favorite bands and singers, including Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, and many more. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. Jerry is survived by his father, Clarie Johnson, of Mt. Vernon, IL, wife, Marie Johnson, of Sesser, IL, daughter, Krystal Johnson, of Belle Rive, IL, son Christopher Johnson, of Benton, IL, daughter, Abbie Johnson, of Mt. Vernon, IL, stepson Denver Doty, of Springfield, MO, and stepdaughter, Reba Doty, of Springfield, MO, sister Sheila Johnson, of Mt. Vernon, IL, sister, Joanna Severs, of Mt. Vernon, IL, stepsister Sherry Brown, of Mt. Vernon, IL, stepbrother, Reggie Hart, of Mt. Vernon, IL, granddaughters Bryannah Johnson, Adison Johnson, and Journey Dixon, grandsons Braxton Lamberson, Tucker Lamberson, Kayson Dixon, and Remmington Dixon, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Teresa Severs; his sister, Shelly Severs; his stepmother, Evelyn Johnson; his stepbrother, Roger Hart; his stepsister, Sandy Fairchild; his lifetime best friend, Shannon Kirkland; and his beloved dog, Harley. Jerry’s family wishes to thank their family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers for their love, prayers, and support during the past year. Jerry was called to his heavenly home much too soon. Words cannot express how deeply Jerry was loved by his family and friends and how tremendously he will be missed forever.
