IN MEMORY OF: Leo Buck Mons Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – CAPE GIRARDEAU 829 North West End Boulevard, Cape Girardeau, Missouri Leo Buck Mons, age 80, of Cape Girardeau, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at home. He was born on March 11, 1946 to Leo Mons and Madeline (Bailey) Mons in Moss Landing, California. Buck grew up in California and moved to Missouri in 1963 where he met the love of his life, Linda. They were married on June 26, 1965. Buck joined the United States Army in April of 1965 and served until April of 1968. He did basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, before being stationed at Ft. Gordon Georgia. From there he served in Korea, and later completed his military service in Ft. Bragg North Carolina. After his service, Buck and Linda returned to Cape Girardeau where they raised their family. Throughout his life, Buck worked a variety of jobs before retiring as a truck driver with over one million accident-free miles. He loved playing pool and spending time on the river and most of all, loving and caring for his family. Buck never met a stranger and leaves behind countless friends and loved ones whose lives were made better simply by knowing him. His kindness, humor, strength, and unwavering life for his family touched so many people throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him. Survivors include his wife Linda Mons, daughters Kim Moss (Hank), Mandy O’Howell (Ed). Beloved companion Prada, grandchildren Kelsey Card (Brian), Lauren Marshall (Carlos Villa), Preston Stroder, Liam Marshall, Summer Stroder, Skyler Stroder, Lake Marshall, great-grandchildren Lyza and Andrea Villa, and Camden Card; and his siblings, Pat Crisp (Melvin), Lucky Mons, Toni Pittman, Sue Hair, and Kim Bishop. He also leaves behind many beloved members of Linda’s family, all of whom he loved dearly as well as numerous neices and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Sandra Gay Drennan, Marjorie Diane Devault, Beverly Starr Randall, grandson Christian James Marshall. A Private Family inurnment will take place at Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
