(Martha) Catherine Dillow

(Martha) Catherine Dillow, 87, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011, at her residence in Murphysboro, Illinois. Martha Catherine was born on March 15, 1924, in Murphysboro, to Terry Lively and Carrie May Magley (Gorham) Lively. She had worked at the former Brown Shoe Company in Murphysboro, as a sales associate at the former Montgomery Wards, as a secretary at the Murphysboro Supply, as a sales Clerk at Ross' and at Maureen's Fashions, as a cook at the Saluki Grocery and Deli, and she also worked at Western Auto and Cookies Restaurant. Mrs. Dillow was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, where she had been the church secretary and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Catherine married Alfred Homan on June 21, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1955. She later married Pearl Merrill Dillow on August 11, 1959, in Jackson, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on December 22, 1987. She is survived by three sons and one daughter and their families: Alfred (Helen) Homan of Murphysboro, and their daughter Diane (Charles) Phelps and her two children Nicholas Vancil and Danyelle Vancil and their son Christopher (Laura) Homan of Columbia, IL and their children McKenzie Homan and Trevor Homan, and step son Zachery Simmons; Linda (Roger) Hines of Murphysboro and their son Roger Carl Hines; Terry (Willa) Homan of Murphysboro and two daughters Katie Lynn Homan and Angela (Dan) Wilcoxen and their children Carley, Benjamin and Emma Wilcoxen and two step daughters Janette (Thomas) Ferrara and their children, Trey, Christian and Teagan Ferrara and Mary Davenport and her children Lily, Brendan, and Olivia Davenport; and son Timothy (Kimberly) Dillow of Kent WA, and his daughter Jessica Dillow, step daughter Makayla Grigbsey, and step son Dylan Grigbsey; a step grandson, whom she helped raise Danny (Cindy) Dean of Albemarle, NC and their two daughters Kristina Dean and Erica Dean; one sister Mrs. Zeronel Lively Tretter of Murphysboro, one brother in law Raymond Homan and one sister in law Florence Homan; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one great granddaughter Madelyn Homan, her parents, and other sisters and brother that have went home to the Lord are as follows: Ella Simpson, Vera Phillips, Mabel Haney, Nellie Riggs and Mary Ellen Derossett and Terry Lively. A special thank you to all who helped in her loving care especially Dr. Kurt Martin at the Center for Medical Arts, the Herrin Drug Store, the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County and the wonderful services of Shawnee Alliance, Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc. and their care givers, S.I.S.A., Alpha Home Care, Victory Christian Church and Pettett Funeral Home.
