Robert L. Easton

Robert L. Easton, 82, of Gorham, passed away at 4:13 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro, Illinois. Funeral services for Mr. Easton will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2011, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Gilbert Gee officiating and burial will be at Glenn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday until the hour of the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Glenn Cemetery or to Crain Baptist Church. Robert was born on February 5, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Oscar Easton and Rachel (Brown) Easton. He married Naomi Jolley on January 1, 1949, in Cora City, Illinois. Bob was a maintenance supervisor at Penn Aluminum for twenty eight years. During his lifetime he loved the outdoors including gardening, farming, hunting and fishing, and he had a host of animals including spider monkeys, raccoons, deer, pigs, goats, cows, chickens, and rabbits. Bob lost his beloved wife Naomi on August 14, 1984. He came to know the Lord at this juncture in his life and developed a strong faith that he held until his death. He was a member and deacon of the Crain Baptist Church at Ava. God sent Bob another wonderful woman and he married Shirley (Tanner) Waldron on November 30, 1984, in Pomona, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2003. Survivors include two daughters and two sons: Cindy Shadowens and her husband Ron, Steve Easton and his wife Rhonda, David Easton and his wife Teresa, all of Murphysboro, and Pam Easton and her partner Cindy Howle of Paducah, KY He also leaves behind six grandchildren Nicki Zimmerman and her husband Gary of Pontoon Beach, IL, Andi Anderson and her husband Jason, Bryan Easton and his fiancee Tiffani Taylor, Joshua Easton and Zachary Easton, all of Murphysboro, and SPC David Easton, Jr. of Fort Bragg, NC; three step children Darryl Waldron, Rob Waldron and his wife Karen, and Karen Pierson and her husband John, all of Murphysboro; seven step grandchildren Joshua Cunningham and his wife Terra of Murphysboro, Jamie Walker and her husband Jason of DeSoto, Matthew Waldron of Boston, MA, Heather Waldron of Cleveland, TN, Lindsey Parker and her husband Brandon of Herrin, Tiffany Cunico and her husband Adam of Carbondale, and Emily Pierson of Murphysboro; and five step great grandchildren. Bob, also, leaves two sisters Elsie Steele and Kathy Bratton and her husband Danny, all of Murphysboro, and a wealth of nieces, nephews friends, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents.
