Ruth Mileur

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Elizabeth Mileur announces her passing. Ruth was born in Pomona on September 14, 1928. Her soul left this earth on the morning of February 5, 2020 at Manor Court in Carbondale, Illinois at the age of 91. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Elgin and Ada Rosson; her husband, Jack Mileur; and her half-brother, Edward Lilley. She was survived by two sons, Greg and Tony; daughter-in-laws, Debbie (Davis) and Mary (Drone). She will be remembered fondly by grandchildren, Amanda (husband Andre Benoit); Monica; Seth (wife Amber Rawson) and Luke and great-grandchildren; Brooklyn, Tristan, Brylyn and Kenzley. Ruth graduated from Alto Pass High School in 1946. She attended SIU then enjoyed life as a homemaker. While her boys were in school she drove a school bus picking up the kids scattered throughout the Pomona countryside. Family was the most important to Ruth. She was a wonderful listener and was skilled at keeping-in-touch, remembering birthdays, sending thoughtful notes and giving support in whatever way she could to those closest to her. She was a great friend and helped many people transition to the last chapter of their lives. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was very quick-witted. She had a way of being frustrated in one moment and laughing it off immediately; she knew how to keep things light. She was a stalwart of dependability, organization and more prepared than the most diligent Boy Scout. She valued honesty and integrity, always displaying a shining example for her children and grandchildren. She loved music, and will be remembered listening to current pop, tapping her feet along with the beat. She would say she didn’t really notice or care about the lyrics, she was there for the rhythm. She loved visiting with family, long phone calls with old friends, watching television and reading magazines. Her mind was sharp and she was always informed on current events, celebrities and trending gossip. She was the family historian, being able to remember all names, dates and details of consequence. Hours would fly by in Ruth’s company, she was a skilled conversationalist and would never run out of things to discuss. Ruth and Jack observed 65 years of marriage when he passed in 2018. They say grief is a reflection of love and Ruth loved Jack so strongly and deeply that life without him was never quite the same. Her family now finds comfort in the idea that they’re celebrating a grand reunion right now on another plane of existence. Funeral Services for Ruth Mileur will be Monday, February 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until the hour of service. Memorials can be made to the Meals on Wheels and will be accepted at the funeral home.
