Villa Juanita Tapia

Villa Juanita Tapia, age 87, passed away on June 5, 2021 in Integrity of Carbondale. She was born on January 13, 1934 in Centerville, Mo. She moved to Murphysboro where she lived with her daughter Vickie for many years. She worked as a seamstress in a local factory for many years. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, watching her favorite television shows and being with her family. One of her favorite things to do was playing bingo with her daughter. She was known as a regular at the local bingo halls. She would come home and often say “I was off by one number” and swear to never play again... until the next bingo night. Anyone who had the pleasure to meet her never left the house without a full belly. She was an amazing cook, but never owned a cook book. All of her food was made with love from the heart. Her potato salad was a favorite at all the holidays. Every morning she would start her day with a cup of coffee and a crossword puzzle. Villa was survived by her daughter, Vickie Wagner; eight grandchildren; Joshua Burrow, Jessica Burrow, Donna Tritsarolis, Walter Simmons, Lupe Lopez, Nick Lopez, Luciano Lopez and Raudel Zesati; great-grandchildren; Christian, Brianna, Alexis, Ricki, Emilie, Chrissy, Mahi, Kayla, Walter, Jacob, Mathew, Raven, Ezra, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Isabel, Esperanza, Elias, Jase, and Jolene; many nieces; nephews; cousins and close family friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three children; Rickie Burrow, Timmy Burrow and Frankie Diane Arbogast. Villa will be greatly missed and always remembered as a loving person. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10:00 am in Evergreen Cemetery, Makanda with Lupe Lopez officiating. Inurnment will follow. Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. “Grams, I will always remember you as the one who had my back. No matter what I did, you would always be right there to take my side. Im pretty sure we watched every episode of In Living Color together. Every month when you got your check, we would go to eat Long John Silvers and buy new shoes at the mall. There are so many memories I will always keep with me. Im sure they had some good blues music playing up there when you arrived. Maybe it will be bingo night, every night! I didn’t tell you enough while you were here, but I love you. I hope you knew that. I’ll always be your little tooky butt.” -Rowdy
