IN MEMORY OF: Beatrice Callie “Bea” Burkey Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – MURPHYSBORO 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, Illinois Beatrice Callie “Bea” Burkey, 95, of Murphysboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Bea was born on November 20, 1928 in Carbondale to Clarence Edward and Virginia (McDaniel) Wyatt. She married Joe Burkey on February 15, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2018. Bea was a servant to the Lord and had a writing and calling ministry to so many up to the last weeks of her life. She was a fantastic mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Aunt Bea to all who adored her and was the family prayer warrior. Survivors include her children, Francie (John) Lindeman, Joe L. (Jan) Burkey, Sam (Sara) Burkey, and Julie (Scott) Bridges; grandchildren, Jennifer Edwards, John (Jana) Lindeman and their children, Samuel, Adrian, and Wyatt; Jared Lindeman; Victoria (Anders) Swenson and their children, Anders, and Beatrice; Ryan (Marci) Burkey and their children, Morgan (Braden Gentry), Madison, Blake, Meredith, and Brezden; Jason (Lesley) Burkey and their children, Zeppelynn, Josselynn, and Evelyn; Christy (Charlie) Etherton and their children, Maci, and Ian; Brad (Amanda) Burkey and their children, Amelia, and Beau; A.J. (Ashley Nichole) Burkey and their children, Kelton, Kamah, Kree, and Kroft; Ashlee Joy Burkey and her daughter, Gracee; Candice Kennedy; Leslie (Clay) Fuson and their children, Cohen, Kye, and Crews; sister, Sandy Grammer; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Tommy Joe Burkey; siblings, Betty (Dan) King, Bo (Alice) Wyatt, Mack Wyatt, and Alice (Eldon) Praisewater; and brother-in-law, Don Grammer. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Murdale Baptist Church with Rev. Len Walker and Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to Dutch Ridge Baptist Church-Building Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois. “I see Jesus standing at the Father’s right hand. I see Jesus yonder in the promised land.
