Blake Edward Keith Hartung

December 18, 1993 - March 20, 2022

IN MEMORY OF: Blake Edward Keith Hartung CRAIN PLEASANT GROVE-MURDALE FUNERAL HOME 31 Memorial Drive (Old Route 13), Murphysboro, Illinois Blake Edward Keith Hartung, 28, passed away March 20 at his home. He is survived by his parents, John & Stacy Hartung of Carbondale, and Bart & Tracy Hagston of Murphysboro; his siblings Morgan Weber (Kraig) of Murphysboro and Madison Reynolds of Carbondale; his grandparents Betty Travelstead, Cindy Hagston, George Kupczak, Nellie Travelstead, and Gabby & Mitzi McBride; and his precious dog, Bella. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and so many good friends. Blake was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Hans Dieter Hartung and Betty Lou Hartung Kupczak, his maternal grandfathers Keith E. Travelstead and Dale W. Pierson, and his niece Caroline Elyse Weber. Blake was a 2012 graduate of Murphysboro High School and was a member of the Golf team and drum major for Crimson Express marching band. He was a proud Corrections Officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections at the Murphysboro Life Skills Re-Entry Center. He was a member of Murphysboro United Methodist Church and as a young man was active in many mission trips and youth activities. It is ironic that Blake’s heart condition took him from us so young, because he was all heart and that’s what made him special. He was never the most articulate at stating his feelings, but if you were close to him you knew. His friends know that he was always there to laugh or listen, that he was fiercely loyal, and that he would do anything for them. His family knew that he was full of love, even when he wasn’t comfortable talking about it. Many thanks to those who stood by Blake and showed their love and support during the past few years while he battled health issues. He valued these relationships and you are all welcome to continue to show Blake your love by coming as you are to his visitation. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022 and from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, March 25, 2022 all at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home. A brief service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be made to the family at the funeral home. They will select an appropriate organization to receive this generosity at a later time.
