Carmen Kay Swetland, age 64 of Murphysboro, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at her home in Lewisville, TX. She was born September 22, 1956 in Murphysboro to Paul and Janet (Wisely) Swetland, Sr. For close to 40 years, she lived and worked in Lewisville. She was a dedicated employee in accounting; customer service and inside sales for a variety of companies. She raised her only child, son Richard, as a single mother. Her crunch party mix was loved by all which she generously gave as Christmas gifts. Carmen is survived by her mother, Janet Lorenzana of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Jennifer Swetland of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Paul (Laura) Swetland, Jr. of Ft. Meyers, FL; a son, Richard (Stacey) Swetland of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Jaxon, Scarlett and Axel of Baton Rouge, LA; niece, Jessica Swetland of Ft. Myers, FL; nephews, Joey and Jayson (Katy) Swetland; a great-niece, Gabby of Houston, TX; other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Swetland, Sr. A Celebration of Life for Carmen Kay Swetland will be March 31, 2022 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm with the service at 5:30 with Bill Harper officiating in the Annex at 17th Street in Murphysboro hosted by the family. Food and drinks will be provided. A private inurnment will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
