Chris Vaughn

Christopher Robert Vaughn, age 40, of Murphysboro, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at his home. Chris was born on September 6, 1981 in Carbondale, a son of Gary W. and Bonnie T. (Becker) Vaughn. Chris attended St. Andrew Catholic School and graduated from Murphysboro High School. He went on to attend John A. Logan College. He was self-employed, working in tree trimming and most recently working in maintenance for Southern Illinois Center for Independent Living. Chris was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed biking, fishing, hiking and visiting with friends. Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Vaughn of Murphysboro; his father, Gary (Donna) Vaughn of South Bound Brook, New Jersey; his sister, Chynna Vaughn of North Las Vegas, Nevada; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his beloved brother, Benjamin “B.J.” Vaughn. The family will host a celebration of Chris’s life at 17th Street Barbeque Warehouse on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Inurnment will take place in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Murphysboro at a later date. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to Southern Illinois Center for Independent Living. Crain Funeral Home in Murphysboro has been entrusted with the arrangements.
