Craig Morgan Kennedy

Craig Morgan Kennedy, 63, son, brother, husband, father and soon to be grandfather, quietly passed away in the early morning hours of April 17, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Craig was born August 21, 1952 in Murphysboro to Richard E. Kennedy and Joan Morgan Kennedy. He married Colleen Garry on March 1, 1993. Craig was a true product and original character of Southern Illinois, enjoying all the wonderful things available the area has to offer. He loved to fish, hunt, boat, ski, and golf. His favorite fishing buddy was Cleo, the family dog, who would wait patiently for him on the dock after seeing Craig head to the refrigerator for crickets. Craig was a natural athlete and had been an avid and respected golfer. He had perhaps been one of the best “scratch” golfers in Southern Illinois at one time, and was respected by everyone competing with him. Craig managed Kennedy Real Estate for many years. He was a 32nd degree mason and was a member of Murphysboro Lodge #498 A.F. & A.M. Craig is survived by his mother; Joan Kennedy of Murphysboro, his wife Colleen Kennedy of Makanda, his daughter and son-in-law; Kelly and Roel LosBanos and coming grandson of Walnut Creek, California, stepdaughter; Tammy Antonacci of Carbondale, three brothers and one sister-in-law; Mark and Toni Kennedy, Eric Kennedy, and Shawn Kennedy, one sister and brother-in-law; Carol and Keith Klaine all of Murphysboro, nieces; Candice Kennedy of New York, NY and Nashville, TN. Jacy (Brent) Woosley of St. Charles, MO, nephews; Ryan Kennedy and Blake DeRocher both of Murphysboro. He also leaves behind many friends that he greatly cherished. His father; Richard E. Kennedy preceded him in death. Craig’s contagious laughter, brazen and witty insults, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10am until 1pm at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro with a Celebration of Life to follow at Bleyer Lake Lodge on S. Country Club Road between Murphysboro and Carbondale from 2:30 to 5pm. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) Animal Rescue, Anna, IL. or St. Francis Care Animal Shelter in Murphysboro.
