IN MEMORY OF: Deloris A. Hall Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – CAPE GIRARDEAU 829 North West End Boulevard, Cape Girardeau, Missouri Deloris Ann Hall (Scales) was born on Tuesday September 25, 1962 to Thelma Bryant and Jessie Curry in Ridgely, TN. Her family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where she spent most of her childhood. She attended Blytheville High School. After her father passed away, her brothers and sisters moved north to Cape Girardeau, Missouri to be with their step mother and the rest of the siblings in the late 1980s. Deloris was a people’s person and loved working with and around them. She touched everyone she met in a positive way. She spent over 30 years working in the hospitality field at several different hotels in the community. Deloris also enjoyed braiding hair and loved braiding when she had time. She could do just about anything and loved learning new braiding techniques. When she moved to El Paso, TX in the early 2000s she met so many people through hair. Braiding was also a way for her to make money. After the passing of her son Travis, she started a diaper cake business which she named in remembrance of him, Gator Made Diaper Cakes. She always made money doing things that she loved. Deloris took pride in motherhood. She was a wonderful mother who loved her children Travis, Tavis and Atilya unconditionally. They were her world and she was there for them no matter what. Deloris also was a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren. Just like her children, there was nothing in this world that she wouldn't do for them. Deloris loved her grandchildren, Xayvion, Nailah and Amaya with all of her heart. Deloris served as her immediate family’s matriarch. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays. She was well respected no matter the circumstances and was known to keep family together. Deloris loved children and would take any child in need, families as well. She ran an in-home daycare where she cared for children of friends and family. People always said it didn't matter what was going on, she always was willing to be with the children, when confronted with this she replied “I got one life to make memories, I’m gonna make mine.” Deloris married Delbert Hall on Thursday September 11, 2008. Today would have been their 16th anniversary. Deloris loved God and always made sure to spread the word to whoever would listen. Deloris gained her heavenly wings surrounded by her niece and sister on August 31, 2024 at St. Francis Medical Center. She was 61 years, 11 months and 6 days old. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Delbert Hall; her son, Martavis Scales; daughter, Atilya Scales; siblings, Maxine (Ben) Pinkerton, Venus (Furman) Berry, Paulette Curry, Gladys Curry, Irene Curry, Jerry Curry, Willie Scales, Jesse (Aleada) Curry, all of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, James (Mary) Curry of St. Louis, Missouri, Lewis Curry of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three grandchildren, Xayvion, Nailah, and Amaya; five special nieces, Nakiya Curry, Nayla Curry, Deloris Scales, Alonnah Louis, and Aubrielle Louis; her favorite nephew, Tavis Curry as she called ‘Possum”; her favorite cousin, James Harverson; and a special friend, Flora Spears. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Pearlie Mae Curry, her son Travis Scales, three brothers; Jimmy Scales, Bobby Curry and Jeffrey Curry, and three sisters Shirley Nunley, Patricia Curry and Lois Simmons. Her kindness and beautiful aura will forever be cherished and missed. Homegoing Celebration for Deloris A. Hall will be Wednesday, September 11 at 1200: PM with Bishop Mae Triplett officiating at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service. The cremation of Deloris A. Hall has been personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home. Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
