Doris Jane Whitaker, age 67, of Cairo, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at her residence. Doris was born on February 5, 1954 in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond Lee and Juanita Jane (Haford) Whitaker. Doris worked at Crain Enterprise in Mounds City for over 20 years until her retirement. She loved to spoil and treat her nieces and nephews like her own. She was a loving mother to them. She is survived by her three brothers, Phillip (Angie) Whitaker of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Don (Betty Jean) Whitaker of Tunnel Hill, Illinois, Robert (JoAnn) Whitaker of Cairo; five nieces, Carolyn Whitaker, Brenda (Dustin Hubbs) Kurtz, both of Cairo, Becky (Deon) Hunter of Owensboro, Kentucky, Jennifer (Fernando) Hernandez of Pembroke, Kentucky, Amy (T.J.) Malone of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; five nephews, Robert (Amanda Miller) Whitaker, Keith (Amber Rodgers) Whitaker, both of Cairo, Phillip (Amy) Whitaker Jr. of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, David (Tracy) Whitaker of Cadiz, Kentucky, Donnie Whitaker of Tunnel Hill; as well as a host of other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Lee and Juanita Jane Whitaker; brothers, Jerry Whitaker, Raymond “Moose” Whitaker and sister, Carolyn Whitaker. Graveside services will be held at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Illinois on Friday, April 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Phillip Whitaker officiating.
