IN MEMORY OF: Jackie Dean Robertson Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – MURPHYSBORO 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, Illinois Jackie Dean Robertson, age 82, of Vergennes, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, after a long and well lived life. He was born on October 29, 1940 in Anna, Illinois to Charles Edward and Bertha Elizabeth (Hileman) Robertson, who preceded him. He married Shirley Ann Fletcher on June 24, 1960 and stayed happily married until her death in 2009. Jack worked for Penn Aluminum for over 30 years until his retirement. He was an extremely hard working man. He enjoyed attending his grandsons’ sporting events and was known by his family to be a prankster. Jack was known by many in Vergennes and was frequently seen out and about in town. He is survived by his six children, Larry Robertson of DuQuoin, Melissa Robertson of Vergennes, Tom Robertson of Murphysboro, Judi Robertson of Vergennes, Meda (Ray) Hester and Ruth (Dennis) Milton, all of Elkville; one sister, Pat (Vernon) Glasco of Anna; grandchildren, Collin, Austin (Jennifer) and Ryan Hester, and Jordan and Olivia Milton, all of Elkville; and one great-grandchild, Aubree Hester of Elkville; brothers-in-law, Alvin (Carla) Fletcher and Rick (Shirley) Fletcher of Murphysboro; sister-in-law, Teresa (Rev. Larry) Gilbert of Carbondale; and many nieces and nephews that will miss his presence at many family get-togethers. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles Andrew and Aura Lee Robertson of Joshua Tree, California; a sister, Myrtle Kathleen Schultz of Sun City, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Jane Ann Woodward Robertson; his parents-in-law, Gene and Lorena (Basden) Fletcher; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Carolyn Sue Fletcher; and nephews, Scott, Micky and Jamey Fletcher and Steven Ray Glasco. Funeral services will be held at Crain Funeral Home, 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, IL on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rick Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Murdale Gardens of Memory. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
