James D. Taylor Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James D. Taylor, age 84, of Burfordville, passed away at 2:01 A.M. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Westfield Nursing Center in Sikeston. He was born on June 24, 1937 to Jacob and Ethel (Seabaugh) Taylor in Jackson, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Ruth Proffer on May 29, 1960, and she survives him. James was a self-employed carpenter for over forty years. In the 70’s, he managed to Roll-O-Fun skating rink. He loved roller skating, country music, and tinkering around in his little shop. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Taylor of Jackson; son, David Taylor (Pat Huber) of Jackson; daughter, Marlene (Charles Sr.) Rouse of Greenwood, Florida; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; six sisters, Margaret Dickerson, Patricia Dickerson, Mary Kutcher, Nancy Long, Carrie Mitchell, and Wanda Banks; brother, Larry Taylor; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy; and infant sister, Shirley. Visitation for James D. and Ruth Jean Taylor will be Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Joint Funeral services for the Taylors will be on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Proffer Cemetery in Whitewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crain Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cape Girardeau.
