Karen Lee Johnson, age 78, of Anna, formerly of Granite City, passed away surrounded by her loved ones at home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. She was born on December 20, 1943 to Joseph and Leola (Wise) Harley in Granite City. Karen loved to play bingo in her spare time. She loved spending time with her family, but mostly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren loved going to see “Memaw” for candy. Survivors include her daughters, Tracie Easterly of Carbondale and Dawn (Henry) Hand of Anna; son, Phillip “Moe” (Nancy) Johnson of Anna; brothers, Joseph “Joey” (Margaret) Harley of Decatur and Ricky (Kathy) Harley of Greenville, Illinois; sister, Marion Henderson of Collinsville; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Josh), Christopher, Steven, Matt, Bryce, Caleb, Jacob (Emily), and Dakota (Sara); fifteen great-grandchildren, Ian, Wyatt, Zoey, Kaden, Karcen, Jaycee, Ana, Makenna, Charlotte, Beckett, Rhett, Heidi, Maci, Harper, and Raylynn; and several other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jeanette Megyese and Geraldine Gavlick; and three brothers, Keith, Leo, and Bobby Harley A memorial service honoring the life of Karen will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna with Joseph Harley officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
