IN MEMORY OF: Kathryn Byrd Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – MURPHYSBORO 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, Illinois It is with deep sadness and a profound sense of loss; we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Kathryn Byrd, who passed away on November 17th, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on January 18th, 1936, she grew up in Murphysboro, IL. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Lloyd Byrd and a devoted mother to her children Cashma and Frank. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and watching them grow into adulthood. She thought her Great Grandson Cohen was cute as a button. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her garden, which was always in full bloom. She enjoyed sewing and crochet as a past time. Kathryn was an avid reader and loved health and lifestyle magazines. She loved going to church and visiting with her church friends. Kathryn enjoyed politics and no matter where she went, church, grocery store or walking in the neighborhood, she was always campaigning for her son Frank. Kathryn never met a stranger and did not mind all the stray animals Frank would bring home to feed and adopt as he was growing up. Kathryn was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will always be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality. She is survived by her daughter, Cashma (Denny) Garner and her son, Frank (Lisa) Byrd. Two grandchildren, Ashley Stanton and Evan Byrd and one great-grandchild, Cohen Nash Stanton, and one sister, Freida McKinney. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Lloyd Byrd; her parents, seven brothers and six sisters. Rest in peace, my beautiful mother. We will forever be lost without you. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 21 at 12:00 PM at Crain Funeral Home Murphysboro with Bryce Pitlick officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Crain Funeral Home Murphysboro. Interment will follow the funeral service at Boucher Cemetery. Crain Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of arrangements.
