Margaret "Tommie" Ury Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Margaret “Tommie” Ury, age 83, of Anna, passed away at 1:33 p.m. on Wednesday March 9, 2022 at Herrin Hospital. She was born on April 24, 1938 to Harold and Ada (Dagy) Thomas in Granite City. She married Everett L. Ury on October 29, 1960, and he preceded her in death on September 20, 2006. Tommie was a graduate of Alton School of Nursing and College of St. Francis with a BSHA Degree. She held many positions in her nursing career. Tommie worked as an OB Supervisor at Union County Hospital for eight years, taught the SIU Vocational School OB Class, and was the Director of Nursing at City Care Center for 21 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of many clubs and associations, including, the Past President of the Anna-Jonesboro Junior Women’s Club, Live Wives Home Extension, and the Illinois Long Term Care Nurses Association. Tommie was also a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Cobden. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Dan Whitfield officiating. The visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Anna. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Cemetery or the First Presbyterian Church of Cobden, and envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
