Mary Jane (Wallis) Kaufman, 83, of Thebes died at 7:40 AM, Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her home. She was born on March 18, 1937 in Racine, Wisconsin to Charles Edward and Hattie Wallis. She married Thomas “TD” Kaufman, Sr. on November 16, 1956. Mary Jane was a cool mother to her kids and would often even listen to their music. Elvis was her favorite performer. Besides being a wife and mother to 8 children, she worked nearly 30 years at Florsheim Shoe Company. She attended Valley Mission Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her 3 sons, John Edward Kaufman (Tina), Thomas Daniel Kaufman, Jr. (Donna) and Dwain Scott Kaufman (Sharon); 5 daughters, Mary Elizabeth Scronce, Tammy Lynn Kaufman, Yvonne Colette McLane (James), Loralie Ann Mayberry (Bobby), Alice Elaine Johnson (Michael); 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Shirley Jenson, Sharon Songer, Bev Joungling, Pam Cory, and Patricia Sagura. She was preceded in death by her husband; mother, father, and step-mother, Alice; 3 sisters, Mickie Diaz, Debbie Bryant, and Thelma Theyerl. Funeral Services for Mary Jane Kaufman will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2020 at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, MO with Rev. James McLane and Rev. Bobby Mayberry officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place later at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to Lindsey Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
