Melanie Jean Jordan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

IN MEMORY OF: Melanie Jean Jordan Serving Location: CRAIN PLEASANT GROVE-MURDALE FUNERAL HOME 31 Memorial Drive (Old Route 13), Murphysboro, Illinois Melanie Jean Jordan, age 65 of Carbondale and formerly of Texas, passed away, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in the comfort of sleep in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehab due to health complications. Melanie was born March 1, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas to William James and Clara Jean Jukes. Melanie graduated from Hirschi High School in 1975 where she got her license in cosmetology. Melanie gave birth to her oldest child Cody James Jordan in May of 1981. She fell in love with Ishmael Earl Harris (1950-2019) with whom she had two children, Ishmael Clinton Harris (July 1984) and William Ramsey Harris (February 1987). After the death of her father in 1989 Melanie and her family moved to Illinois where she spent the remainder of her life. Melanie’s greatest joys were her grandchildren, Peyton and Olivia Harris, Daughters of Ishmael and Erin, Carter and Jonathan Harris, Sons of William and Chelsea. Melanie also loved a good deal and spent many days enjoying yard sales and the covered bridge festival. She spent lots of time doing different types of crafts for her family and she took joy in cooking for her friends and family. Melanie was preceded in death by her Parents William James Jordan (1917-1989) and Clara Jean Jordan nee Jukes (1924-1978), and her sister Mara Jordan (1947-2014). Her beloved fur baby Midnight (2013). She is survived by her Children Cody Jordan, Ishmael (Erin) Harris, William (Chelsea) Harris, four grandchildren Peyton, Olivia, Carter, and Jonathan. Her cousin Sandy, her siblings Sharon Jordan (1941), Michael Lawrence Wetzel (1944) Max Randell Wetzel (1947), Dennis Lee Wetzel (1950), and William Starr Jordan (1955) and all her close friends. Cremation will be accorded. Services will be announced at a later date. The family invites you to make a donation in her honor in lieu of sending flowers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home.
