Peggy Lou Will Kerley

Peggy Lou Will Kerley, 85, passed away at 12:30 am on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Marshall Browning Hospital at DuQuoin. She was born in Murphysboro on July 26, 1930 to Leonard and Clara Will. She is a graduate of Murphysboro High School. She married Lloyd Kerley on March 8, 1952 in Murphysboro. They shared 59 years of marriage when Lloyd passed away on October 14, 2011. Peggy enjoyed traveling, and she frequently spoke about a road trip she made with her parents and one of her sisters, Dorothy Lee, to Canada. As husband and wife, Peggy and Lloyd, traveled to Florida, California, Hawaii, Bahamas, Las Vegas, South Dakota, New England, Alberta Canada, and other places. Peggy and her husband relocated from Murphysboro in the early years of their marriage. When they came back to Murphysboro, Peggy began working for Earl Summers in 1977 at the Murphysboro Township Office. Her employer said when she retired, “Peggy, your honesty and integrity are beyond reproach.” After her retirement in July 1992, she assisted Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home, along with her husband (who was an employee) to greet family and friends when a funeral was held. Peggy had an outgoing and friendly personality and she enjoyed talking with people. She liked to laugh and tease. She looked forward to high school reunions and loved to reminisce with her classmates. Peggy loved her sisters, nieces, nephew and their families very much. She leaves her sister-in-law, Betty Kerley and her nieces and nephew, Kay (Tom) LoCiero of Southfield, MI; Karyn (Larry) Wright of Las Vegas, NV; Sutton (Chuck) Decker of Murphysboro; Kathy (John) Bank of Onarga; Myron (Mary) Dillow of Chicago; Karen (Don) Hayes of Collierville, TN; and Linda (Sam) Foskey of Carbondale. Peggy was proud of her family. She also leaves great nieces and nephew and great-great nieces and nephews. Aunt Peggy, you will be missed very much. Her beloved husband, Lloyd; sisters, Charlotte Stroup, Marguerite Benz, Dorothy Dillow and her parents preceded her in death. Visitation will be Friday, April 29, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Peggy Kerley will be Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. In-sook Hwang, pastor of Grace United Methodist church, officiating. Entombment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Murphysboro Food Pantry and/or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
