Phyllis Buckles, 78, of Mounds, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 at 12:54pm at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Apr. 2, 1942 in Ballard County, KY, the daughter of Paul and Louise (Winters) Dowdy. She and Larry Paul Buckles, Sr. were married on Dec. 21, 1962. Phyllis was a proud member and first lady of the Villa Ridge Union Church. Survivors are her loving husband of 58 years, Larry; daughter, Kim Buckles; son, Larry Paul Buckles, Jr.; special daughter, Autum (Keith) Simmons; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Paula (Steve) Justen; sister-in-law, Beverly Dowdy; and nieces, nephews, other loved ones and friends to whom she was known as “Sissy”. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward Keith and John Ed Dowdy; and 2 sisters, Linda Carr and Anita (Jim) Stout. A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Villa Ridge Union Church and can be sent to 4533 US Hwy 51, Mounds, IL 62964 or to Crain Funeral Home, P.O.
