Vivian Alice Johnston

Vivian A. Arendell Johnston, age 97 of Carbondale, passed away, Monday, July 20, 2020 in Century Assisted Living. She was born February 9, 1923 to William and Elzora (Warfield) Morefield in Sandridge. Vivian married Earl Arendell and he preceded her. She then married Hanley Johnston and he preceded her. She was a seamstress for the Town Shoppe in Herrin and also did alterations for Huelson’s in Carbondale. She loved to work in her flower garden and to play card games with friends and family. Vivian is survived by her daughters, Linda (John) Dickson of Makanda and Barbara (Bobby) Barton of Idabel, OK; grandchildren, Bradley (Ann) Tafel of Blossom, TX; Sandra (William) Brannon of New Port News, VA; Rachel (Adam) Huitt of Grapevine, TX and Amanda (Darwyn) Lowery of Makanda; great-grandchildren, Sara Huitt, Jenna Huitt, Mekaiah Brannon, Ezekial Brannon, Levi Lowery, Lance Lowery and Lillian Lowery; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Earl R. Arendell and Hanley Johnston; 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Funeral Services for Vivian Johnston will be Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00 am in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with John Dickson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
