Wilma E Charles Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wilma E. Charles, age 82 of Carbondale, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. She was born April 19, 1939 in Pomona to Loran and Bessie (McRoberts) Burris. On February 28, 1964 she married Bill Charles. They shared 46 years of making wonderful memories. He preceded her on June 19, 2010. She had worked in the dietary department at the former Sty Rest Nursing Home. She was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to fish and garden. Wilma is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Robert) Campbell of Carbondale; Bill (Patti) Charles, Jr. of Millersville, MO; James (Ying) Charles of Champaign; Mark Charles of Carterville; Debbie Charles of Carbondale; and David (Anita) Florence of Murphysboro; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death of her parents; her husband; four brothers, Donald, Raymond, Forest and Bobby Burris. Graveside Services for Wilma E. Charles will be Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 11:00 am in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Interment will follow. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged to the American Heart Association. Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
