Faye (Herring) Lee

IN MEMORY OF: Faye (Herring) Lee Serving Location: CRAIN PLEASANT GROVE-MURDALE FUNERAL HOME 31 Memorial Drive, Murphysboro, Illinois Faye (Herring) Lee, age 71, of Murphysboro, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 23, 1954 to John, Jr. and Mary Ellen (McRaven) Herring in Murphysboro, Illinois. On June 30, 1973, she married David W. Lee and together they spent over 43 years together until his passing Aug. 18, 2016. Faye attended Immanuel Lutheran School and then graduated from Murphysboro Township High School. She had worked at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Tri-County Special Education, and then went to work at Big Muddy Correctional Facility and IYC in Murphysboro, retiring after 23 years of service. Faye loved spending every moment possible with her grandchildren and babysat them frequently. They were her everything. When not spending time with her grandchildren, she loved sewing and crafting. Survivors include her daughters, Dava (Quint) Davis and Mackenzie Hernandez; sons, Brandon (Christy) Lee and Jeffrey Lee; twelve grandchildren, Landen Harris, Mallorie Harris, La Kota Davis, Braden (Ashley) Lee, David Lee (Audrey Poiter), Jacob Lee, Madison Lee, Parker Johnson, Aleaha Tucker, Aurelia Hernandez, Violet Hernandez, and Orion Hernandez; great-grandchildren, Emmerson Lee, Laikyn Lee, Lila Lee and Lacy Lee; sisters, Ruth Vestal, Alberta Reiman, and Kim McRoberts; brother-in-law, Claude Jr. (Cindy) Lee; sisters-in-law, Claudean (Al) Miller, and Grace Herring; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by an infant son; her brothers, Ron Herring and Ben Herring; sisters, Elbina (Dean) Barnett and Ina Herring; brother-in-law, Tom Vestal; and aunt, Lora Williams. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 22 at 3:00PM at Crain Pleasant Grove—Murdale Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Easton officiating. Visitation will be held the day of the service at the funeral home from 1:00PM until 3:00PM. Interment will follow the service at Murdale Gardens of Memory. The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the Abundant Life Church located in Murphysboro, Illinois. Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
