Kathleen Lottie (Cochran) Hines

IN MEMORY OF: Kathleen Lottie (Cochran) Hines Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – MURPHYSBORO 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, Illinois Kathleen Lottie (Cochran) Hines, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the home she shared with her son, Steve, after a brief illness. Kathleen was born on June 1, 1924 in Levan Township, Jackson County, Illinois to William Henry Sandusky and Maude Alice Hardy. She married Albert Arthur Cochran on April 12, 1940 in Hillsboro, Missouri. Four children were born to their union, James Arthur, Clarence Ray, Stephen Albert, and Ronald William Cochran. Kathleen and Albert enjoyed 44 years of marriage until Albert passed away on September 20, 1984. She married Floyd E. Hines on June 4, 1991 in Murphysboro, Illinois and they enjoyed 10 years together before Floyd’s passing in 2001. Kathleen was retired from Southern Illinois University where she was employed as a cook. She also did work as a waitress for a number of years at the former Tippy’s Restaurant in Murphysboro. Kathleen knew hard work being raised on a farm near Kincaid Creek. Her retirement was well deserved. She leaves behind her sons, Clarence (Rita) Cochran, Steve Cochran, Ronald Cochran; daughter-in-law, Darlene Cochran; grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Richardson, Erin (Doug) Troue, Josh (Tori) Cochran, Elizabeth Pyatt, Courtney Cochran, Brea Cobb, Becky Malinsky, Mike (Belinda) Flores, and Lisa (Josh) Dover; 20 great- grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; Husbands, Albert Cochran and Floyd Hines; brothers, Vernon Logan Sandusky, James Logan Sandusky; sisters, Thelma Louise Chettero and Audrey Lou Gasaway, a son, James Arthur Cochran; grandsons, James Arthur Cochran, Jr. and John Albert Cochran; daughter-in-law, Lynda Cochran; and close friend, Phyllis Grob. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Crain Funeral Home Downtown Murphysboro with Rev. Jim Easton officiating and eulogy by Dan Richardson. Visitation will be held on the day of service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Murdale Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Hospice, special caregivers, Michelle Weathers and Carolyn Gallegly, and our brother, Steve, who has been the primary caregiver for the last couple of years. Crain Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of arrangements.
