IN MEMORY OF: Terry L. Shafer Serving Location: CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – TAMMS 420 Front Street, Tamms, Illinois Terry L. Shafer, age 71 of Thebes, Illinois, passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, June 29, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1955 to Ray E. Lingle and Elsie Marie (Lamb) Lingle at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Terry loved the Lord. She had faced so many challenges and never let her faith waver. She completed mission trips to Africa to provide medical services and the message of the Lord to all. After retiring from Southeast, she started volunteering at Options for Women, a pro-life clinic, helping women see the beauty of their unborn child and offer options of how to proceed. This was her mission and she was so blessed to help many babies receive life. If you ever attended Upward games in Cairo, Terry most likely invited you to church while she was selling you home made baked goods. She never missed an opportunity to share about her savior and her dying wish was that everyone will make the decision to give their heart to the Lord. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kraig and Natasha Shafer; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jeromey Sitton; granddaughter, Jordan Shafer (Alex Kenyon); granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Maisie and Clayton Dirden; granddaughter, Chloe Shafer; grandson, Elijah Sitton; honorary grandson, Abi Gogishvili; great-granddaughter, Hadley Dirden; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Angie Lingle; along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and her Mighty Rivers Church Family; as well as the many families who became her own over her years of service at Options for Women. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Ann Figgins. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Larry Potts officiating at the Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo, Illinois. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at St. John’s Cemetery in Dongola. The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions may be made to Mighty Rivers Upward Basketball Program. Memorial envelopes will be available at the service. The cremation of Terry L. Shafer will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home. Crain Funeral Home in Tamms is in charge of arrangements.
